"Speaking about the audiophile qualities of vinyl, a few days ago we were discussing vinyl with Alan Wilder from Recoil (ex-Depeche Mode) and here is what he said: "A ‘pure' analogue signal is indeed very desirable. However utilising vinyl, to extract it, is highly overrated - there are many restrictions & compromises one has to make to cut to vinyl, mainly at the bass end and the only way to really get the best out of it is by using extremely high-end equipment. Most people don't but go on about the wonderful warmth and so on. They ignore the compressed thin bass, the surface noise and distortion but somehow hear all the magic. I’d stick to digital - but not MP3 - Apple lossless or higher. The best thing about owning the vinyl is not the listening but the caressing and smelling:).""
